Art day on 1/3

Last Sunday (1/3) was my Art Day. I went to visit a few exhibition in Admiralty and Central.

The first was The Hong Kong Jockey Club Presents: Light and Shadows - Caravaggio • The Italian Baroque Master in Pacific Place. It was just a pre-show of "Supper at Emmaus"(1606) , which is the work of the 16th century Italian artist, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. The painting is being projected in the big screen featuring a video guided tour.

Meanwhile, I registered for visiting the exhibition at Asia Society Centre on 15/3. I have appreciated another Caravaggio's "Supper at Emmaus" (1601) in London National Gallery during my exchange to UK last year. Therefore, I look forward to seeing another masterpiece of from Caravaggio's "Supper at Emmanus"collection and also the co-exhibition of the HK artists next Saturday.

Then I went to the newly opened gallery by Christie's auction House in Alexandar House. The James Christie Room shows different kinds of collections, ranging from Asian 20th century and contemporary art, Chinese ceramics and works of art, Chinese classical and modern paintings to jewellery and jadeite, watches and fine wine.

Highlights include works from modern artists such as Andy Wahol, Zeng Fanzhi, Ju Ming, Liu Kuo-Sung and Xu Beihong, to impressionist paintings by Monet and Pissaro.

The final station of my visit was the galleries in the Pedder Building. Originally, I wanted to see the fish lamp installation by Frank Gehry in Gagosian Gallery. Unfortunately, the exhibition was closed. So I turned to Hanart TZ Gallery. CHOW Chun Fai is an artist of Hanart TZ Gallery and held 4 exhibitions there. That was not the showing time of his works there but still there were a lot of other interesting contemporary art pieces.

The last gallery I visited was Ben Brown. There was Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne's exhibition. The whole gallery became a part of their installation which themed the natural environment.
